I'm leaving my job at the end of the month - a mutual agreement between myself and the hagwon to end my contract after 6 months - and have a couple of questions about the process of cancelling my current E-2 visa.

1. Do I have to go to the immigration office with my current employer or can they simply call immigration to tell them that I have left? From what I have read I do have go but just wanted to clarify.

2. Do I have to have a plane ticket to show the immigration people? I have my release letter, my alien card etc and I know that I will get an exit order that requires me to leave after 2 weeks but do I need to prove that I will actually be leaving? Obviously I am going to as I have no interest in living here illegally (will actually be going to get another E2 from Japan as have a new job lined up for mid April) but do I have to show them a ticket to prove this?

The second question is the most important - again from what I've read I don't think I need one but any help, advice etc would be much appreciated.

Thanks

This is the easiest way to make sure there are no hiccups with your new job's visa application - like your old boss forgetting to cancel your visa.

You do NOT need to show a plane ticket to get your exit order. You DO need your ARC and passport when you go to the immi office.
You have to leave BEFORE the two weeks is up (not after 2 weeks). Immigration doesn't care where you go to but you MUST exit Korea before the deadline and it is NOT extendable
