anyway, do i need to have a multiple entry stamp on my alien card? i remember reading about this, but colleague (canadian) said you only need something on your passport. not sure if the case is different because i'm from UK.
she thought i could sort this at airport Question but i'm pretty sure i've read somewhere i should do this at local immigration office.

a multiple entry stamp goes in your passport not on your ARC. You can get it at the airport but arrive early because there are often lineups at the airport immi office. You can also get it in advance of your trip at any immi office. Can't remember the cost. 60,000 won I think but don't quote me on that.

British citizens should only get a single-entry as immigration will stamp it for free. It must be due to a mutual agreement between the UK and Korea. The only advantage of getting a multi-entry is that it saves you having to visit immigration at the airport. I've done it twice and have had no problems.

Persons from the UK need to apply for a re-entry stamp but it is free.
You can get a multiple re-entry stamp from the local immigration office.
You can get a single re-entry stamp from the airport office. The hours are 06:30 - 22:00. There are often lineups of 15-30 minutes during busy travel times.

It is a stamp in your passport and NOT a mark on your ARC.

For Americans, we automatically get a multiple entry visa, but I know that for others, you might have to go to the immigration office and pay alittle (about 60,000 won) for a multiple entry amendment to their visa in their passport.

if you know better- i stand corrected....oops Wink

Please let me correct you then.

Americans get a multi entry visa.
All other E2s get a single entry visa and require a re-entry stamp if they want to leave the country (holiday for example) and return on the same visa.

They can apply for a single re-entry at their loca immi office or at the airport.
They can only get a multiple re-entry stamp from their local immi office.

Brits get a re-entry stamp for free.
The remaining E2 visa holders must pay for it.

30k for a single re-entry stamp.
50k for a multiple re-entry stamp.
