A couple of questions about my Korean imac:

1. Main question: Plenty of times I can't read Korean websites. I've tried switching the System Preferences to Korean, but the sites still come out looking like gibberish. Also, I try typing in Korean (for example while posting here) and it comes out looking like this: ???.

2. Minor question: How do I type the Korean 'won' symbol on this keyboard? I've tried every 'option'/'shift' combination I can think of...

Thanks everyone.

I have never been able to post to this site in Korean. I don't know why.

I have to change the text encoding for about 50% of the Korean sites I visit. Others auto-detect just fine.

Despite its being on every Korean keyboard, I don't know how to type the slashed-capital-W won symbol.

Thanks for bringing up the mysteries I've always just lived with. Hope someone has some ideas...

What browser are you using? I can read all Korean sites just fine with Safari.

http://tlt.its.psu.edu/suggestions/international/accents/codemac.html

will tell you all the different symbols you can make with your Mac. I didn't see the won sign there, though.

I can't type on this site in Korean either.

Korean webmasters generally don't 'optimize' (if that's the correct term) for OS's other than Win-doze, though I generally can navigate/read the Korean websites I actually visit with my iMac. Safari works for me, but sometimes changing browsers helps with those overloaded shopping sites.
The occasional strange character set is a negligible price to pay for a virus-free, stable, integrated and pleasant computing environment.
