|

Daegu is a nice city with a great teaching community imo - I'd move there in a heartbeat. I just have a couple of questions about the jobs.
1.Do we all sign the same government school contract? It seems to be official, but it has all the warning signs in it that we are taught to avoid - big deposits, vague hints at extra work etc.
2. I am only being offered 2.0 and 2 weeks holiday...is that normal for a Gyong Buk school. I know I'm only a level 2 teacher but other provinces do offer more.
3. The recruiter said I'd be based at one school - not several - is this true?
4. How much holiday do you really get? Does your school fill every hour with extra work when the kids break up? If you just teach a couple of camps in the summer and winter then that's not too bad.
5. Does anyone have any good experiences about working in schools in this city and province?
Cheers and hopefully see you there soon!

hey matt:
I spent a few years in Daegu before and just arrived back again. Ive worked at an ECC Hawgwon, Kyungbook High School with the EPIC program, Kyungbook University and Yeungjin College.
The EPIC program was fair to teachers (at least back in 2000) but the teaching conditions were difficult. If you have the degree(s), Id suggest a college or a university over a high school.
If you are back in North America, and are considering a school in Daegu, let me know and Ill call up a teacher who works there for you and get the inside scoop. PM me if/when you need this help. |
