|
|
There is a thread discussing one particular English nickname that a teacher here found to be really dumb. In my years of teaching I have taught students whose English nicknames included: "Horse, Pig, Playboy, Sexyhead, Strone [sic], etc." What are some of the most interesting nicknames you have observed in your history here in Korea? |

I've never seen anything too too weird. Let's see...
A kid who was really big for his age and his name apparently was Korean for "green" wanted me to call him Little Green.
Two twins had the English names Harry and Potter.
I've encountered some amusing nicknames in the punk scene and handed out a few myself, but that doesn't really count. |

I've always wondered why the nickname for Richard hasn't been thrown into the dustbin of history. |

I once had a student whose nickname was "P'ussy".
I asked everyone in the classroom for an English nickname and this girl said she would like to be called "P'ussy".
Of course, I was the only person laughing in the classroom and couldn't stop laughing for another 5 or 10 minutes. Everyone in the classroom was very puzzled and asked me why I was laughing in broken English, but I just continued on, laughing.
I asked her why she chose that nickname and she replied, "Because I'm very beautiful like my p'ussy cat." Then I burst out laughing again because that gave me a nasty thought of "beautiful p'ussy". |

It's always interesting to observe how most boy students will refuse the name "George" and most girls refuse the name "Jill". |

I have a student called 'pile'. I'm not sure why.
The best nickname I ever heard was for one of my mates but he never knew he had it. He's very serious and talked forever about really boring subjects. Basically the anti-charm. So we called him Dave deep voice mcserious head. Describes him perfectly. |

Aww. That was the name of the song Joni Mitchell sang about the baby she gave up for adoption. |

LOL! If there is ever a time this student becomes a soccer star, and a fan yells, "Hey! You suck!", he might just say "That's my name, don't wear it out!" |
