Well Carr has landed in Carolina. I wonder if he will challenge for the starting position or if they brought him in as a backup?

Isn't that the guy who "confessed" to killing Joan Benet-Ramsey? |

David Carr, formerly released by the Houston Texans of the NFL for American football, has signed a deal with the Carolina Panthers... |

So what team is he with now? I'm assuming the Raiders. |

Carr had no chance in Houston. They never built a line or a running game.
With the right coach, he could be a star in the NFL- not just servicable, but very good. Hard to believe teams like TB and Oakland passed on him. TB thinks Chris Simms is the answer (he's not).
Some idiots may compare him to Harrington in Detroit (never lived up to potential) but that's just so wrong. Harrington had every advantage and screwed it up, while Carr had nothing to work with except one WR-Johnson. |

He should be able to challenge for the #1 spot. He is a better all around QB than Delhomme.
Right now Carolina is saying he will be the backup but it is not training camp yet.

What advantage did Harrington have over Carr?
I'm far from a Joey fan, but come on! It's not like Detroit's line was much better and that Detroit was a better run organization... they both flamed out.. wasted draft picks, no Olines and them being vastly overrated coming out of college affected them both..
I can't honestly think of one advantage Harrington had over Carr..
Care to enlighten me? |

Detroit invested heavily in that offense- Joey had WR's and RB's. Neither had a line, but Harrington should have been able to produce surrounded by that talent. Carr had no one to work with on his side, except Johnson.
Carr made more happen with less.
Oh, and Millen IS an idiot. |

I wanted Carr to go to my beloved Browns.
Harrington had all the big time players to make him look good but he just couldn't it done. The game just moved to fast for him.
Carr had less talent on the Texans and zero o-line. |

I seriously don't see this "more talent around Joey thing"
Detroit has/had Roy Williams, Houston has/had Andre Johnson (wash)
Kevin Jones - Dominic Davis/Williams (meh)
O-Lines both sucked...
Just because Detroit drafted receivers high doesn't mean that they were any good.
Joey had Roy Williams in terms of big-time players... that's it..
Again, I'm glad Joey's gone, but he in no way had an advantage over Carr.. they were both surrounded by incompetence and inferior talent. |

For the Lions, Roy Williams turned out to be pretty good, making the Pro Bowl in 2007. But Charles Rogers, the first round pick in 2003, is out of football, and Mike Williams, the first round pick in 2005, is pretty close to getting cut.
Harrington's not a horrible quarterback. He's just another example of a PAC-10 quarterback being overhyped by virtue of inflated stats. |

A couple years ago Carr was selected as one of the sexiest men alive in America, but he doesn't have strong arm. |
