yeah, how do i go about doing this? i'm clueless. i've got an s-video hookup on my laptop, so i went out and bought an s-video to RCA cable and hooked my laptop up to my tv. nothing. i went through all the external settings and couldn't get anything to come up, so i'm obviously retarded and missing something. can anyone clue me in on what i need to do to get this to work, as i'd really like to play movies on my tv rather than my tiny laptop monitor. |

You need to go into the Windows display settings and set up the 2nd monitor. This is quite involved, so just get in there and play with it. |

Sometimes the S-video to RCA cables don't work.
I have tried a few and they just haven't been able to do it.
AverMedia KeyLite, pear shaped, grey and it has 4 types of input wires on one end (to the TV, S cable and A/V) and 2 types of output coming out of the other end, USB and computer blue pin connection

I feel your pain! I went through the same thing myself recently. Here are a few things you need to be aware of.
You may need to download some drivers for the s-cable to work.
Also make sure the display setting is on duel or clone.
For the best picture you need to get the resolution right as well. A pretty low resolution seems to work best.
Good luck! |

You'll need the S-video and the converter cables. Make sure everything's hooked up correctly. Make sure your TV is tuned to that input.
If you're running Windows, configure your display properties and select "Extend my desktop to this monitor" after selecting "monitor 2." You'll see what I mean. Set the resolution at 800x600 for it, at 32-bit color. Your TV should now function as an extended desktop, and you should be able to drag and drop items -- including media -- to it. |
