Hi,
I want to find out whether there are any restrictions bringing a laptop (new or used) to Korea from the U.S.
I heard there are.
Is it cheaper to buy one in Korea?
Thanks,

Never heard of such a thing. Long ago, I always registered with US Customs before going to Korea, to avoid any hassle on return, but it was a waste of time. Just say it's for your personal use, unbox it if it's new, and erase your special picture collection if you're feeling paranoid... |

Just make sure the brick on the power supply is rated 110-240vac and you will be fine. You will also need a plug adapter to switch from a N.A style plug to an Asian 2-round pin plug.
There are NO restrictions on bringing a laptop with you.
There MAY be import duties if you SHIP a NEW computer / laptop to Korea. |

It is not cheaper to buy one in Korea. You won't get the English XP, driver CDs by default, you might get a cracked copy of English windows if you ask... host of problems. Although you will get fancy little Korean characters on your keyboard. You can buy a nice USB keyboard here if you really need to use the Korean characters.
Check the laptop stick above for other possibly questions. |

Hi again,
Thanks for the feedback. (I was told by someone here in the U.S. I might have problems sending it and I called Gateway's 800# and they said you might have problems also, and it is for personal use, so there.
Thanks

Are you shipping it or bringing it with you on the plane? |
