|
|
I've been told I'm to teach a group of 30 middle school students from a variety of schools for an hour and a half every other Saturday afternoon. It's a conversation class, but the level of the students (a mixed class) is not very high - as many middle school teachers will know.
Can anyone recommend any activities to interest them and encourage talking? |

I like to use this one for a first class. Print of two sets of id cards for a group of thirty. I like that it makes it gets the ball rolling for choosing English names, if you go that route.

And if you're not already on them, ddeuble's esnips site and bogglesworldesl.com are both great for interactive resources that I have found work with the ms age group. |

Thanks for that. I have tried a similar activity to that before, but it didn't work very well because my students have great difficult pronouncing Western names, and their vocabularly is so limited that they don't understand most of the occupations etc. Maybe I could spend a lot more time going over the activity and the key words, but that would reduce the time available for conversation. |

Your welcome, and that's a good point - the intro is a 45 minute class on its own, in my experience. |
