I will travel to Oregon in late July. All the prices I'm getting quoted are ++1,600,000... up to 1,800,000. I know it's peak travel time, but are these fares normal for that time of year? Or, is it possible to find something cheaper? These prices seem awfully high. Available seats are already filling up... If someone is travelling to the US west coast at that time, or already has... is this what I should expect to pay?

You should be able to get cheap seats into SFO or SeaTac and then figure out your domestic travel.

Many of the smaller domestic carriers (cheap seats) are not available on the big international booking systems and the agents here are unfamiliar with them as well.

I can only assume you are flying on your own nickel from the question and you would be willing to piss around with your domestic travel after you hit the states.

We got quotes going into SeaTac for just under a million won return for mid July and from 800k to SFO (EVA air).

Call whypaymore at: 02-318-8585. If you can't get an English speaker the first time, wait 10 minutes and try again. 40 people on the phones and about 25% speak English.

PS - showing flights to Portland for around a million + tax. NWA and DELTA.

How long would you be in the US? Here is a link to a Japanese travel agency. http://www.no1-travel.com/ They're really cheap, but they only seem to offer short term flights. You'd have to go to Tokyo, though, so it may not be that great. You can always give them a call; they've got people who speak English and several other languages as well.

DO NOT TRAVEL TO SFO or TEATAC> That is a categorically (SP?) bad idea. I am from Oregon and have never paid that much, during high season, to travel home.

If you travel to SFO or SEATAC then you will have to pay the Southwest short hopper flight, which will be between 2-300 USD. This doesnt add up to savings, as you also add a night at a hotel, food travel necesities, etc.

Go to VaKang Travel in Itaewon, in the International Clinic Building (Hannam Building) Its the big green one. 9th floor, and talk to Christy. She will hook you up and if you plan far enough in advance, you can get it for 700,000.

Northwest usually have better fares.

good luck

One alternative is to fly to SFO and then take the train over to Jack London Square in Oakland and take Amtrack up to Oregon. I'm doing that in June, although instead of taking the train (BART) my sister (who lives down there) is going to pick me up and I'm going to visit with her for a day or two before going up to Oregon. Just an idea.
