Hi,
I don't know if this question goes here or what but here goes! I read this article about a North Korean restaurant in Daejeon called Pyongyang Moran Bar. The article is can be read here http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/25/world/asia/25korea.html?ex=1306209600en=d428e1fffd5eb4d6ei=5088partner=rssnytemc=rss
I just wonder a. is this place still open? b. has anyone been there? and c. where exactly is it in Daejeon? I'm heading up to Daejeon this weekend and would love to check it out.
Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

I once went to the HQ of a company which supplies North Korean restaurants with ingredients. The owner -- a NK defector -- for some reason wouldn't tell me where I could find those restaurants. Very strange. |

I'm going to check this place out too. |
Thanks Gwangjuboy!
I'm going there tomorrow. I'll post pics and a review of the place! |

So I went to the bar yesterday. The only thing North Korean about it was the beer and the pictures of Kim Jong Il. Apparently, since the writing of that story, the North Korean cook left.
I guess I'm going to have to go somewhere else for some North Korean food. |

Taedonggang beer? That stuff is the best beer made in the Koreas, hands-down. |

I didn't even try it. Ended up going somewhere to eat and then just forgot about it. I don't drink Korean beer anymore anyway. Makes me throw up something fierce.... |

You missed out. The NK beer is fantastic. They sent a British factory over there to make it. |
