I currently work with a girl who let her last school keep her degree for the whole year she was there. She said they framed it and put it on the wall. There's no way I'd let them do that!

So my government could charge me for letting the local immigration office keep my passport for two days to process my ARC?

I don't really fancy the idea of camping out in the office for two plus days just to keep my passport in sight. I might get TB from some of those poor people there.

I don't know...but I think there is a point in this. One time I left my PP w/ the Korean Consulate in Bangers and when I went to pick it up they said they had lost it. When I went to report it to the police they checked and informed me that someone had already used it to go to the U.S. Shocked My embassy were pissed at them but in the end they replaced it as a lost PP and not stolen. That kind of pissed me off a bit! Anyway, think twice about leaving your PP w/ second party third world folk... Very Happy

Yeah immigration takes your passport for up to 10 days to procees your ARC. Other than that, don't give it to anyone.

At least she knew where it was and could take it back at any time. Unlike those poor people whose school's hold on to their diploma and they have no clue where it is.

On the other hand, depending on where it is on the wall it may fade if it is in sunlight. That'd be something to look out for.

confuzed makes a solid point.

Do not work for people who want to hold onto your needed documents.
