I first heard this on the Fox, John Gibson show... but now it is in print by someone.

BY MICHAEL SNEED Sun-Times Columnist

Authorities were investigating whether the gunman who killed 32 people on the Virginia Tech campus in the deadliest shooting rampage in U.S. history was a Chinese man who arrived in the United States last year on a student visa.

The 24-year-old man arrived in San Francisco on United Airlines on Aug. 7 on a visa issued in Shanghai, the source said. Investigators have not linked him to any terrorist groups, the source said.

Police believe three bomb threats on the campus last week may have been attempts by the man to test the campus security response, the source said.

The exits to the buildings where the shootings occurred were chained by the shooter, the source said.

He turned the gun on himself.

You know, this is one of the scarier things that can happen. Schools of all kinds are the perfect targets for guys like this. This story actually brought tears to my eyes.

Like that Amish school that was hit a while back... damn.

Ditto. The report earlier was different. But now the new agencies are saying it is a South Korean student.

The report about the Chinese student was strange in several regards. First and foremost, Chinese that age would not be competent in weaponry unless they had been in the Army.

A young Chinese man, that age, would not have been in the army and had the educational opportunity to study abroad at the same time.

My bad...

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8OICP601&show_article=1

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - A Virginia Tech senior from South Korea was behind the massacre of at least 30 people locked inside a campus building in the deadliest shooting rampage in modern U.S. history, the university said Tuesday.

The Virginia Tech Police Department identified him as Cho Seung-Hui, 23, a senior in the English department.

The bloodbath ended with the gunman's suicide, bringing the death toll from two separate shootingsfirst at a dorm, then in a classroom buildingto 33 and stamping the campus in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains with unspeakable tragedy.

I wasn't judging the man's decision to do so, just responding to Jinju's suggestion of death penalty.

But since you ask. I wouldn't kill people unless absolutely necessary. If I did do what the S. Korean guy did, I wouldn't turn the gun on myself. I'd battle it out with the cops like a glorified gangster and die from someone else's bullet.
