It's got to be a joke. I was getting the vibe earlier today, riding on the train. Two guys had the new to army type hair and the robe on. I figured, hey, that haircut and that robe, enlightened folks, except for their airs of superiority.

Im not sure what you are not getting. Funny robes are the mainstay of most religions. Nothing to do with being enlightened however. |

How does a person act with an of superiority on a train? Are you sure you weren't interpreting incorrectly? |

Going to Thailand last summer from Korea, my brother and I had our tickets to fly economy, but look who was flying first class, two buddhists wearing robes. |

Travelling first class does not negate religiosity (how often have you seen the Pope in coach?). It is not the act of travelling first class that disconnects from spirituality, it is the attachment to first class that can cause problems. |

I'm not really sure about those monks anymore, I think they're up to something funny. I've met monks in Mr.Pizza, killing people in internet cafes, and there's this one monk that starts banging his drum about 5 in the morning...universal compassion?
I stayed in a monastery once in Korea and the monks had sky life on their house and there was nothing in my room, just walls and my friend that snored. (He wasn't really my friend anyway, just somebody that I followed because we were working together and I didn't know how to use the bus system)
The monks probably think all westeners are gimps and I think I agree with them. |

No, it doesn't negate it. The same thing could also be said about them wearing regular clothes, and choosing what ever hair style they prefer. Guess they can handle the first class attachment, but not the clothes. 'Pick and Choose' Buddhists. I see. |

One of my Korean students once told me that there are many people making a living as fake monks around here. |
