Reading now...haha....the new E4400's are being dropped in nominal frequency to 2ghz. My curren E4400 holds strong at 2.4ghz per core.
That is why the price is so much cheaper.
ha.
THEY CHANGED THE NAME! I just ran my intel utility device and my processor reads as follows:
E6600, 4mb Cache, and 2.4ghz |

I'm a little confused cl...there is no current E4400 chip. They're being introduced on April 22. EDIT - BTW - They are going up in frequency from 1.8-2.0GHz from the current E4300.
They EASILY over-clocked them on stock cooling to 3.2GHz and it will only need 800Mhz (quite cheap) memory sticks because of the high multipliers. Heck of a deal for $133. I'm going for that, as I'm a budget o/c guy and I've got a mortgage to pay.
Yes, your card will be fine this year save for DX-10 games. It's a really, really nice card. But you may have some problems selling it for $230 after next week. That is if you still want to upgrade to that new 8800 with DX10. |

Yes, they will overclock well. The preceding article only got 3.2 GHz (up from 2.0) but I've seen other site where they've gotten up to 3.6 with a little bit of fancy cooling.
The benefit of the 6*** chips is that they WILL all have 4MB cache which can affect some applications up to 12% but have nominal effects on games. Also they have 'virtualization' which is useless to a normal user. Also, I think the massive overclocking ability of the 4*** models overshadows these small differences.
Niceh. |

I thought you meant The Goodies were coming to perform in Seoul.....
Anyway, those prices look great. It might be time soon for my first full build. |

Wow! that was a confusing forum discussion link, wrench. Some of the guys thought it performed to standard, others thought it sucked. It was all benchmarks, too...have to see some real gaming tests.
I think I'll wait for a professional review before I make any decisions. In any case, the 7 series card prices are going to come down. That'll be sweet. |
