Hey guys,

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good hair stylist in Seoul. I'm looking for a hair stylist who either has experience cutting non-Asian hair, or was trained and worked abroad as a hair stylist. As my Korean isn't quite up to par yet, it'd be an extra bonus if they could speak English.

Also, has anyone on here found a spa or salon which offers threading? I'm dying to thread my eyebrows and shudder at the thought of defaulting to waxing.

I had the same question (about a stylist, not threading) and got a recommendation from a friend who's been here a few years. The place is called Zen at the Ehwa subway station. However, my appointment isn't until Saturday so I can't give an opinion yet, but my friend said the guy, Jonny, trained in London I think, and the woman who took my reservation spoke english. I'll give an update this weekend, I'm getting a cut and color.

I found this place (hair salon) in Hongdae where there is one girl who speaks English and really does a good job with my hair. The salon's name is Dessange Paris and it is upstairs from Omuto Tomato in Hongdae. The girl's name is Choi Min. Up to now I have never needed to make an appointment, I just show up and get helped almost immediately. The prices are also really decent, I pay 20 000 for a cut and blow.

Traxxe --- threading is a traditional Indian form of hair removal. It involves pulling out a row of hairs from the follicle by twisting the hairs into a cotton thread. In my opinion, it's not at all painful, and you get a more precise eyebrow shape than waxing. I suppose you could have your back hair threaded ... it'd be far less painful than waxing!

At Express Bus Terminal in Seoul, there's an Aveda Salon in "Central City" right above the Baskin Robbins and Coffee Bean, beside Shinsegae and the Honan bus terminal.

"Charlie" cuts my hair, and he did a beautiful job of managing the waves in my hair, even though it's not a typical Korean texture.

There are two girls in the salon who have lived in Australia/New Zealand, and they will interpret between you and any of the stylists. They get a lot of Western customers, so the colouring should be a safe bet.
