Passport expires in October.
Was told last week I'd need to get a new passport before I can re-sign for a second year with the same employer.
ARC card expires April 25th.
Just found out my mailed-in passport application has a signature which "touched a line" and so they will re-mail it back to me to do again, postponing processing.
New passport will arive on May 7th-8th.
Will immigration give a two week extension on my ARC?
What will be the consequences if not?
BTW, I signed a letter on file with immigration promising to never break the law again (after reentry visa mistake I made after a month trip abroad before). It was some fancy looking document that they scare-tactic-ed me by indicating it could deny me future entry if I broke the law ever again. Wasn't sure if it was face-saving b.s. for them or cold-blooded bureaucratic possibility.
Damn I hate paperwork. |

Just do what needs doing and be patient.
Play the game, abide by the rules. I hate "officialdom" too btw. |

Show them an onward ticket (plane or ferry) and they;ll extend it. I've had several 30-day extensions. |

There is NO onward ticket because I am NOT leaving!!!!!!! I am re-signing for another year.
Perhaps just going there with my director to explain and show he'll re-sign me will be enough. Immigration said they will NOT let me re-sign for another year without a new passport, but whether they will let me extend for two whole weeks I dunno.
I was just hoping to hear if anyone has EVER extended by two weeks. One week I've heard being extended, but two? |

Do you get a receipt for sending in your passport? I know they issue one for the UK passport.
May be you can take your new contract, the recepit from your embassy and go to immi to see if you can get an extension?
Be nice and apologetic and they might just let you. |

I bought the ticket. Got my extension. Then got my ticket refunded. |
