White House seeks "czar" to oversee wars: report

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House wants to appoint a high-profile overseer to manage the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan but has had trouble finding someone to take the job, The Washington Post reported on Wednesday.

At least three retired four-star generals approached by the White House in recent weeks have turned down the position, the report said.

The war "czar" would report directly to President George W. Bush and national security adviser Stephen Hadley and would have authority to issue directions to the Pentagon and the State Department, the newspaper said.

Isn't like ummm the secretary of defense supposed to be, like, that guy? And shouldn't Bush, as C 'n' C, be kinda in charge? What else should he be doing? He got America into one of them.

Not only is he looking for someone, but nobody wants to take the friggin job. Now thats funny, it seems you can only destroy so many careers through inept management and right-wing nuttery before you start to run out of suckers.

The guy has vacationed away 1/4 of his presidency (OK, OK, I know he isn't really president, but still...) but doesn't have time to manage the ONE THING they're actually DOING?
