I made the mistake of sending 3 boxes of clothing to Canada. They took about 2 months, stuck inside a cardboard box, who-knows-where. Anyhow, they gained this "musty" smell ever since. No matter how many times I wash them, the "musty" smell always comes back.

So a warning to all. Never send your clothes back this way!!! I have no idea how to get rid of this "cardboard" ish smell. It's just terrible! Anyone have any idea how to get rid of this???

I had that problem too. Just dry them with about a dozen very strong smelling dryer sheets and they should be ok. Or, hang them outside for a full couple days.

If you want to ship clothing home without the smell, put them in sealed, airtight (as much as you can get) bags.

I've had that and I've tried everything to deal with it. Eventually I found that only one thing worked:

Tossing them in the trash and buying new clothes.

Soak your clothes overnight with detergent and fabric-softener treated water in the washing machine (Pidgeon Fabric Softener) just start the normal wash cycle the next morning. I don't know if it will get rid of cardboard mustiness, but it has worked for me when I have ignored wet clothes in a sealed gymbag for a couple of months.
