Seoulman,
It's pretty easy, you just have to find out what you have to do at you're embassy to get the marriage registered. Mostly it's a matter of paperwork. Then she will have to order a copy of her family registry that has her taken off her family's registry of it. After that you apply for an F-2.
I did the whole thing in a couple of weeks. |

So if she does that does she lose any rights in Korea?
Also it may be jumping the gun a little but when I have the visa how do go about acquiring a university position? |

1. Why would she?
2. Apply for the job. Go to interview. |

Don't assume people will drop jobs in your lap for an F visa.
Most employers know you can up and leave any time you like, just like a Korean staff, so they may prefer a "bound" E2. Same goes for accomodation... most employers seem to prefer their foreigners in company digs, so the implied threat of immediate eviction stops them running. As an F, I'm assuming you have your own place.
When you're offered a job take into account the airfare they're not paying, accomodation costs and the visa run. If you want to be the man, also factor in the recruiters/advertising fee. It's up to you to get it, they won't offer it.
You might also want to consider the kind of coverage they offer, with respect Health Insurance, National Pension, Unemployment Insurance and Accident Compensation. Again most employers will not offer this, and try to have you sign as an "Independent Contractor" or "Businessperson"... avoid doing this as it will cause you problems down the line. |
