I've finally made it to Korea, but am not sure how to go about meeting other foreigners. The English teachers at my school are not helpful as they have family and friends on the military bases near here. They have already said that they don't hang out with the foreign teachers, which leaves me wondering what the hell I have gotten myself into. I am the only single teacher surrounded by married couples and temporary workers which makes it hard to establish relationships. Had I known this before leaving I would have chosen a different job. Unfortunately, the teacher I was e-mailing left because she finished her contract and one or two others left out of the blue.
No one seems to know anything from why I cannot get hot water to where to look for an AC adaptor. This is going to be a long year if I don't make some connections. So if there is anyone willing to let a newbie into their circle I would be forever thankful. I like to do most things, am fun, spontaneous, adventurous and just want to make the best of this year. Now for a few questions about the area:
I live about a 10min walk from the bus station and want to know where I can workout, grocery shop and find "The Indian Bar". Apparently, a lot of teachers meet up on Friday for dinner at this place and I have no idea where it is.
I also don't mind taking the bus or train anywhere (providing I can figure out how) if there are those of you who live further away.
Hope to hear from some people. |

I'm coming to Pyeongtaek the first of June, so I guess I'll be in the same boat...whereabouts would I be able to find adapters and other start-up items in the area?
Cheers,
