Last night I asked a couple of those kiosk tender/vender types to print up a dojang for me with my name written in Hanja. Needless to say they were a little taken aback, but the interesting part was the ease with which they claimed to be able to create these intricate stamps. Apparently they just use a computer? The computer creates the image then they have a little press that molds the rubber... wow.
I thought there was some degree of art or skill involved?
Damn... well, if there isn't then I want the software. Does anyone know what it's called? |

I was reading a while back that in Japan it was causing quite a stir. Stamp makers that use computers to produce stamps have been popping up everywhere. The craftsmen were unable to compete with the cheaper stamps.
How much did you pay for your stamp? I paid 6000won for mine 10 years ago--hand carved, of course. |

| I got mine in Japan... not really a dojang then I guess. It was free from my calligraphy studies, unfortunately it's in Katakana. I want one in Hanja now that I have figured out a couple ways to write my name in it. |

In English it would be called a chop. |
I've never actually heard it called that except in the Chinese neighbourhoods. It's always been a name stamp where I came from. |
