I bought 5 universal adaptors (they seem to take all plugs, I have U.S. U.K. and Australian ones with me) from the stalls in the building just outside the Yongsan station. It was a small one, on far wall, near the left corner, as seen from the doors near the station exit. IIRC he had lots of leads as well, so if you wanted to do without the adaptors you could just take the power bricks in and buy leads for them.

You can probably get one pretty easily from your neighborhood electrical supplies market. That is the shop with all of the lights and lamps on inside.
They often have converters for sale. The converters go for about 10,000-20,000 won. |

Yes it will work. It is just wires......
The adapter plugs in the Yongsan market are 5000W each, much cheaper than the price quoted above.

| Make sure that whatever you are plugging in is capable of accepting 220v electricity, if its only rated for 110v, poof. Then you need a power transformer to convert the 220v to 110v. |

does Korea run on the same voltage as Japan? I have a Japanese external HDD but no converter. I took the power cord to a shop in Yongsan and was given what I believed to be a universal converter. Cost was 4000-5000 (cant remember). Came home plugged it in immediately heard a small "puff" sound and smelt some electrical smoke Needless to say the lights on the HDD never lit up. I really hope it hasn't been fried... |
