Borneo would be the obvious place.
In particular the Malaysian province of Sabah has land connections to both Indonesian and Bruneian territory, so you could have the best of both words.
There are direct flights from Incheon to Kota Kinabalu on Malaysian & Asiana. |

Indonesia (Java, Bali, Sumatra) is the cheapest. Malaysian Borneo is a bit more expensive than the peninsula. |

What's more, there are a host of discount airlines in the region that you could use once you arrive in Singapore. |

Thailand is not as cheap as it used to be.
It also depends upon what sort of accomodation you want to stay in.
When I travelled around Thailand the first time I went there I only ever slummed it on Ko-Chang when I stayed in a hut for 3 months. After that it was the best hotels available in the towns I went to up country. (not always that good but nice enough).
Prices on the islands have gone up a lot. There may still be bungalows available for under 200B but not sure what sort of condition they would be in. A lot of Ko-Change is now populated by hotels and resorts where prices start around 1000B. 3000B gets you a nice place for the night. 10,000 a really nice place.
If you plan ahead there are lots of cheap online hotel reservations available, but it's always good to call the hotel first and check to see what price they will quote you over the phone. |

haha wasn't asking about thailand, but thanks anyways. koh tao was the other option, but i hear it's mediocre diving and the other expenses make it not really worth the trip out there (although they got that full moon thing goin on so maybe...) |
