This game is expected to have the highest attendance of any professional sport in Korean history. It sure will be a good game and the best of this season so far. Suwon will be looking to avenge their 4-1 defeat at the hands of Park Chu Young's hat trick last month. It will be played at Seoul World Cup Stadium at 3 p.m. |

Funny you mention attendance at Korean Division 1 Football league games (soccer) because I watched the highlights of a few games on t.v. last night, and the thing that struck me was the lack of attendance - A quick scan of the stadium revealed that only about 25% of the stadium had spectators - who all seemed to massed in the same central area, leaving other areas of the stadium completely unoccupied!
Also it is bizarre - because some of the foreign players in the Korean league do their antics when they score a goal, but this does not really have an effect on the crowd who watch.
I get the impression, though, that the Elite Korean Basketball Professional League has a lot more atmosphere compared with the rather sterile soccer games. At least in the basketball games (judging from the full attendance in those sports halls) the atmosphere is more electric, and this must help the players. As far as soccer goes, it must be dispiriting for some of the foreign soccer players from Brazil and Africa to play before scanty crowds.

To be fair though, the 'problem' stems from the fact that the teams are playing in venues that are far too big for their actual needs... put the 20,000 odd folk who go to a Suwon game back in the 30,000 seater Suwon civil stadium and you get a better impression of it being filled than the 45,000 seater World Cup stadium.
Also, whilst a number of clubs do attract ridiculously low crowds (Busan and Jeju in particular), and whilst it is pretty clear the K-League clubs blatantly lie about the actual attendance figures, in general the average attendance is around the same or higher than a number of second-tier European leagues such as Portugal, Belgium, Sweden, Norway and Greece.
Korean second division (National League) games, however, do have tiny attendances, like the one I went to yesterday at the aforementioned Suwon civil stadium with just over 100 people in attendance (though they claimed 350 on the website).

Serie A has had less than full stadiums this year too, though that may have more to do with disillusionment with ticketgouging the fans who've made such an emotional investment over the years.Or they have to go to grandmas for Sunday dinner.
K-League is pretty woeful.Half of them can't stay on their feet.
Can you buy booze at the stadium?Koreans often tell me you can't so they smuggle in soj'.
I don't know.......I should make the effort to check it out at least once, but not until the hwang sa season is done. What do tickets go for?
Guess I can't wear my AC Milan shirt though, might be mistaken for a 나이약한 서울 놈.
Seongnam baby!!Porco dio.
Just switched over.Attendance is pretty good-40,000?Seoul keeper has a glorious blond mullet-the old national keeper I think.Current keeper at the other end.

The upper tiers were only half full.
What's the stadium capacity? |

Mistake/typo. Suwons next home game is in fact against Daegu. Suwon already played Busan at home. It was their last home game. |

Their next K-League game is against Daegu on Saturday at home. Their next HOME game is Wednesday in the Hauzen Cup against Busan. So it was not a mistake/typo. Are you a Suwon fan? |

Ah I see. But I thought Suwon got knocked out of Hauzen by Kwangju or was that the league cup. Grr, I'll have to do my homework on K-league better before I post.
But yeah, I'm a fan. I was at the World Cup stadium with my Suwon legion. Good time! |
