As I walked out of school today a warm, gentle breeze teased my senses with the scent of Korean BBQ... Got me all itchy for summer to start.
Is there anything better than waking up on a blistering hot Saturday/Sunday afternoon, calling the boys (or girls) and heading down to a BBQ place for plate after plate of kalbi and bottle after bottle of soju and beer. Ahhh, the combination of nut-drenching heat, dirty restaurants, cheap meat, and crappy beer. And invariably, these afternoons will then lead to joyous evenings of drinking and other such merriment in Itaewon, and then crazy "anything goes" nights/early mornings in a more "Korean" part of Korea. Truly, some of my fondest memories of Korea. |

I'm with you on this.
The second year I returned to Korea it was mostly because I was missing the restaurant and drinking scene. It's a lot of fun. Even after 7 years in Korea I still get a little thrill when that meat arrives at the table and the first soju in necked. Can't beat it! |

stop taunting me with your tales of hot weather and BBQed meat as I sit huddled up in my blanket as rains and wind lash my windows.

Why do you need to mix drinks? Beer alone does the job. Preferably Prime Max, in Korea. |

Yeah good point, And I like Max Prime too but if you want to step up the pace a bit, it's perfect, Bekseju is good stuff, and has not mixed badly with max prime for me or vice versa. Really, it's better to keep them separate though. |

I was actually just thinking about bbqs today as I walked past a stand that sold bbq chicken on a stick.... I was thinking that it was almost bbq time and how I would love to have bbqs now that Letty is a bit older... I almost asked my husband if we could start our bbq on our roof this evening!! |

Gotta sit at an outside table. Was that mentioned? Anyway, very important for the experience, I think. |

Bekseju is alright. Basically I've enjoyed every Korean alcohol I've had except soju. |

Crack that shit, I came late last summer and missed the build-up, only humidity and heat with no A/C. Warmth hitting our faces, let the party begin. |

Here, here! I agree with you RACETRAITOR. Soju is krap. Beer, even Korean beer is better.
I wonder how Korean BBQ restaurants would feel if I showed up with my own imported beer? |
