what would be the quickest route? Not too far via the subway but this would involve 2 changeovers. Are there any direct buses? I'll be working near Jonggak. |

402 or 0014 at the stop by the ogeori. 0014 will put you closer to Jonggak, but comes less frequently. 402 goes to the corner on the Jonggak side opposite Kyobo. Bad side is you've got to walk up the hill to catch the bus.
You could also check the bus stop before Namsan 3 Tunnel. There's probably a bus there that goes to the area. |

A five-way intersection. You can take one of the little green busses up to the top of the hill, and that's the ogeori. From there go up to the road that runs around the base of Namsan and you'll see a bus stop.
A yuk-goeri is a six-way intersection. |

Take the 401 from in front of the tunnel. It'll drop you off at Chongak Station.
If you want to go further east on Chongno, take the 143.
It's actually more convenient going towards Chongno than going home, as you have to get off futher down towards Itaewon on the return leg. |

If U're starting at the bottom of Gyung-Ri-Dan and heading to Jonggak, no question, Bus #143 is your best bet. It hits all the major Jongno areas, so just get on at Haebongchon and get off the first stop after the bus turns right (at the gate, which'll be on your right where people take photos)
Once U learn the bus system here, U'll hardly ever use the subway anymore. |

The Seoul city government has an English bus map at: http://bus.congnamul.com/SeoulRouteWebApp/view_english/map.jsp
You can search for start and end locations and it'll tell you the best way to go, how much it'll cost, and how long it will take. Sometimes it won't recognize the place you're searching for so just search for something close (like Noksapyeong station) and then click the "select on the map" button.
The site works like a charm, and I never take the subway if I can help it.
