There are likely better deals to be had. In January I flew from Seoul to Halifax (through Vancouver and Toronto) and that was 1.7million won. If your final destination is Toronto, it should be cheaper. Have you tried checking online directly with Air Canada (I know they're bad, but internationally their flights were good), or any other airlines?

Was that one way or return?

Why route through Vancouver? Did you try routing via the states or is that not an option? It may be cheaper to route through HongKong on Cathay or via Tokyo on JAL or ANA.

It is probably the Canada domestic flight that is boosting the cost through the roof. If you must Book to Van then book your domestic flight separately through Westjet. It will probably be a couple hundred dollars cheaper that flying AC domestic.

Cathay is offering routing ICN-HKG-ANC-YYZ for dates Apr.1-Jul.12 from 1,050,000 return. (from whypaymore).

Fly through the US....much cheaper.

The Seoul-Tokyo-Detroit-Toronto flight is cheap (NWA) but has a couple of plane changes.

You can also fly Seoul-San Fran-Toronto (UA).

Try JAL as well...they have good deals sometimes.

If you fly through Vancouver you are using a KAL-AC combo and you get price robbed...shop for flights through the US....

Call AC if you want the retarded price...they basically add up two one way full fare tickets...ah yes...great service. Laughing

Really check whypaymore for flights on US carriers or on JAL through the US.

If it's not too much trouble for you to go to Busan, then you could leave from there with NorthWest for 750,000 plus tax. It's their 5th anniversary special from Busan. http://nwa.com/kr/en/travel/nwapr/pm0411200703430.shtml

Also the time when you are going affects the price....I mean if you fly high season you get high season prices....no way around that.

The real deals are during the low season (September-November or January to May).

For me, I MUST fly through vancouver (and need a lay over there for a few days), so it is a bit restricted. Also, I wont be flying till July. So far 1.94 takes included is the best.

We got flights - booked last Thursday (dep July 23, return Aug Cool to Vancouver via Taiwan for 990k + taxes and 1100k (including taxes) direct on Singapore Air.

You can also route through HK with Cathay for similar pricing (with time to stay and play if you want it).

Have you tried other travel agencies?

My first year in Korea I bought a one-way ticket to Montreal for 650,000 won (550,000 + 100,000 because I stopped for almost two weeks in Japan) when all the other travel agencies I had contacted were asking more or less for a million won.

It's worth it spending some time on the phone to check with many travel agencies, not only one or two.
