The missus and myself are thinking of heading over there.

I'm not sure if this is even in the right forum.

has anyone been there? Is it good? What qualifications would I need to teach English there? Anyone have any good links? I was looking and what I found though Google hasn't been overly helpful.

Cheers.

Why not post over in the Middle East forums. You'll have to register separately for the International forums (Korean forums and International forums are separate).

Bonehead, Dubai is filled with people from around the world. But don't even think about dating a Middle-eastern Muslim woman in the Middle East unless you plan on dealing with all her male relatives who will be calling for your bloody bonehead or a good old fashioned stoning.

I've a friend in Dubai who swears up and down it's rich and fun, fun, fun. No commandos come into your compound and shooting you for failing to be a Wahabist. Come to think of it, no compounds, either...anyway, she's not teaching there, but I looked into it a tiny bit and found that the teaching gigs want good qualifications, as they do in all the better oil states: Master's and CELTA, and experience, or Ph.D, typically.
But yeah, if you can get in, the money's good. Brunei is, too, if you got the CV for it.
I don't!

COst of living in Duba is really high

Apartment rental rates have risen by 75% in the last 2 years.

You can't save money there.

Saudia -- > Kuwait are the last few places where it is possible.

Libya as well but watch yourself with the companies in Libya not go tthe best reputation for honest business practices in the ESL world.
