I heard tell of a technology old-wives' tale of a site that has logs of past web pages.
I think that that would be impossible considering how large the World Wide Web is, but if it is true, it would save me a lot of grief. I need to retrieve lost information from an old web page.
(I actually saw old Dave's pages from long ago on the forum and some dude saying that there was such a site for memories of days gone by...). Gimmie the site! NOW! |

Google often has cached copies of old web pages. No graphics will be there but the text will. Try searching for the website and when you get the page of search results there will be a little "cached" link near the end of each result. |

Hey, both pieces of information really saved me a lot of anguish. That Wayback machine is really Kewl, and I didn't know that about the Google stuff.
I got the 7 different versions of the page that I needed, but not the February 1, 2007 version. SuperHero, does the Wayback machine make past duplicates back date to latest? It seems that way, if so, I guess I just need to wait for the February 1, 2007 or so date to become available.
If not, do you have another suggestion? The Google cache got me April 27, 2007. If I could just get the April 10, 2007 version even... |
