Has anyone worked on Geoje Island or Opko? Looks like there are alot of foreigners due to shipyards...We are looking at a contract there and would love to hear feedback from others who might have been/lived there.
Cheers,

I think " VanIslander " can give you good information, I understand he has been in that Island for a few years.
I understand that you can drive to Geoje Island from Pusan by car ( There is a bridge between Pusan and Geoje Island ). |

First, it Okpo, not Opko. There are a lot of foreigners there for engineering, but there isn't actually taht much to DO on Geoje. If you google Geoje and expat/foreigner/etc, then you should be able to find some more info. And yeah, talk to Van Islander. If you are in to nature, Geoje is a great place as its quite beautiful and has a lot of good hiking and stuff. |

it's nice. good beaches. sweet roads. the only bummer is the daewoo factory workers: at times hostile, racist, and aggressive. |

The bridge between Busan and Geoje will not be complete for a few more years. The is a bridge that connects the island to Tonyeong. It's maybe 1km long. Geoje is not an isolated island. It's so close to the mainland that it's barely an island at all.
I think this is the most recent thread on Geoje that has a lot of info on it. Check it out:
