Suzanne (Nina Simone covering Leonard Cohen)
Hurt (Johnny Cash covering Nine Inch Nails)
Charlie Parker doing "Pop goes the weasel"
Most of that Pat Boone album where he covers heavy metal songs in lounge lizard style.

Sorry Zoobot, but presonally, the NIN version of hurt kicks more ass than Johnny Cash's version (but it is still great)
Pearl Jam's version of Rockin in the free world is incredible, maybe better than Neil's. Bowie's version of 'The man who sold the world' sounded better from Nirvana.

The original 'Twist and shout' is a poor version. I wonder how the Beatles ever heard it. The original 'Under the boardwalk' sounds out of tune. I like Marley, but his version of 'I shot the sheriff' sounds whiney to me.

I know I'll probably get "Flack" for this, but "Killing me softly" covered by Lauryn Hill. Oh yeah, and Wimoweh (In the Jungle) by Yma Sumac.

Have to agree with the Hendrix cover of All Along The Watchtower.

Cake's cover of I Will Survive was, in my opinion, better than the original.

Jeff Buckley's version of Cohen's Hallelujah is better.

The Sex Pistols did a better version of My Way than Sinatra.

'Whiskey in the jar'. The cover by Metallica beats all others, even Thin Lizzy's cover.

Joe Cocker: 'With a little help from my friends' & 'She came in through the bathroom window'.

Strongly agree on 'All along the Watchtower'

At the risk of threadjacking, can ANYONE tell me about the Kokoamo sung by a Korean group? Is it a translation or just new words in Korean? (The one that is entirely Kokomo, not the one from a few years back that just uses a few bars...)

Ok, OT: Killing Me Softly by some Korean chick about ten years back.

I really love Smash Mouth doing "I'm a Believer." They kept the joy of the original, but I really love the lead singer's voice.
