Hey...
I'm looking to buy a new guitar sometime in the near future. Can anyone recommend a decent place in Seoul??? New and/or used instruments and amps...
Not looking to spend a fortune, but not cheap about it either... I'd really like to get a Fender Telecaster... Anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks... |

Mate, the best place to is Nagwon Market (낙원상가).
It's quite a large indoor market near Insadong that is only for musical goods.
The range of quality in guitars is pretty wide, so you can usually find close to whatever you're after. Also, you can haggle the price. (Make sure you do, 'cos they expect it and jack up the price) There is a pretty good range of electric guitars, although some of the better quality (often second hand) guitars are somewhat overpriced - at least in comparison to other countries.
Chongro-3-ga Station (Line 1/3/5) Ext 1. Walk a block an a half, turn right towards Insadong-gil and it is in the big concrete building built over the road. 2nd Floor. There is also a cinema in the same building. Ask anyone nearby if you can't find it, as it is pretty well-known. |

You can also try Yongsan rail station. The fifth floor has stores selling musical instruments. |

This. Really, really. It's where I bought my last guitar and they have plenty. Decent prices too. Effects, amps, cords, keyboards, all that jazz. No where else to go. They are closed on Sunday tho. |

Notes on Nagwon:
- If you're looking for American made, you can forget it for the most part. And if you do find some, they have the price jacked way up. And for the most part they're old and in bad shape.
- They never tune their instruments. So it's up to you to do so when you take a look. Wastes a lot of time.
But if you're looking for acoustic, Harpeau has some nice ones he's selling at alright prices. |

Thanks for the info. and directions... I did check out the market, and no doubt, and abundance of choices... I haven't purchases yet, gonna mull it over a bit more... I did find 3 teles, but way expensive - 1 million won plus, and quite poor condition - scratched up, discolored, etc... Anyway, I've also checked out, and recommend, mule.co.kr for those looking to purchase an instrument - private guitar sales, and more, on-line...
Thanks again. |
