Woman Power
Quote:
Sookmyung Women's University President Lee Kyung-sook said... In an interview with The Korea Times, she said compulsory military service interrupts the studies of male students but emphasized the reason for women's progress is their ability to concentrate and control their lives.... She stressed that men could learn many lessons through military service.... "I believe they can improve their personalities and obtain wisdom on how to coexist with others during the service. Even though they blame their situation, there is no way to get out of this responsibility."

"The 21st century is a woman-friendly world that features a digitalizing society, globalization and integration. As the changing world needs flexibility, women have advantages," Lee said.

"If men want to succeed nowadays, they have to look at feminine values and learn how to work well with women," she added.

I do not believe in "feminine values" per se (and I differ from respected scholar Carol Gilligan on this), however, as a woman I can say that familial roles in both western and Asian cultures do strongly, strongly encourage women to become flexible.
