The bus fare went up around 2 weeks ago ... Actually it was the second time I ever used the bus ... I had got change on the Friday and then no change on the Monday ... (I thought that maybe Friday had been the mistake)... I found out a few days later that the fare had gone up from 900 to 1000. Which to me with fares I was used to was still a great deal ...

Fares went up April 1. No joke.

It's a shame because if I want to go a kilometer or two down the street it costs the same as if I want to go to the next town. I then just take a taxi for 900 won more which takes me to my doorstep.

Yes, I was surprised too.

My normall 800 won ride to Seoul is now 1,000 won.

Can anyone confirm if the subway fares have gone up too?

Yes, the subway fare went up to 900 won for the first 10 km. I think its an additional 100won for every 5km, whereas it was 100won for every 6km before (I think). The red intercity bus fares went up to 1,700won, and 1,400 if you're transferring

has anyone else noticed the card scanners on the back of the bus aren't on/working?

I've been on quite a few buses where the rear door card scanners just don't read cards.

Why? Rolling Eyes

Nonetheless, I hate to pay 1200원 for the journey to 삼성 from 수네 in Bundang. If I travel a shorter distance to 선릉 it costs 1300원! Pay more for a shorter journey or pay less for a longer journey, I just don't get it.

Confused

How can you complain about 100won? Sure, over time it adds up, but seriously, its 100 won! Also, 선릉 and 삼성 are 1 stop away from each other, so you can't really argue about them being that much further away from 수내

It's a hidden tax increase. Think of it as a user fee.
