This problem is probably a bit boring and simple to tech guys, but here it is:
When using (genuine) word, my spellcheck sometimes goes on holiday for a page or two, then comes back, sometimes not.
I've used help, and done as much as a techno-hillbilly can ie: the bloody thing says its on! There is an icon with pages folding with a red X that appears also....
Any help would be much appreciated, I'm a bit of a fcuktard with computers,
Cheers,
Rob |

Are you waiting for spellcheck to automatically correct errors as you type OR are you selecting the spell check option from the menu?
Make sure you haven't accidently selected some text with your mouse by clicking on a white area (no text) on your screen. Then select the spell check.
Also, if you want the spell checker to check a specific piece of text only, you can use the mouse to highlight that section and then apply a spellcheck. |

| Erm, the first one. That is: I have red squiggles and suggestions etc rolling along as I type, then this function stops for no reason. |

| Don't know. But you can always choose to spell check from one of the menus and that should do everything. |

Thanks. That sounds like a heavy heavy job!
BTW, each time this has happened, I have cut n pasted stuff from Wiki into articles I was writing ( but formatted the 'cut' to match the recipient pages, and removed hyperlinks)
I should have mentioned this earlier maybe?
I had norton and clamwin antivirus installed when I got the computer....
You guys are awesome help. |

ah ! I had that happen to me. I didn't have to reinstall word. This is what I did. For some reason my file was corrupted. So, I just copied and pasted the information onto another form.
But first, I opened up a fresh document and typed a bunch of wrong stuff to make sure the spell check was working. It was...just not on that one specific document.
THEN...i copied and pasted and boom! It worked again. For some reason, files get corrupted.
Hope this helps. me. |
