I enjoy walking home after work at night. It gives me a chance to unwind a little and a chance to go over the days events.

After these unfortunate killings I got to thinking about my students (who were extra nice today), sick girlfriend, a cold beer, and the state of these discussion forums. I know I've posted some ridiculous things, but isn't it the BIGGEST waste to go onto an anonymous discussion forum and cause problems especially from behind a cold, inhuman computer screen?

I mean those young people in Virginia had everything in front of them. Looking forward to graduation, careers, families, love, happiness, sadness.....LIFE basically, but it was all suddenly snuffed out. Then we use our precious time to write meaningless, purposeless crap. If we post interesting, intelligent, useful and even comical stuff, I don't consider that a waste at all as it actually benefits readers.

Well, this whole thing gave me a chance to step back and do a little introspection, a fresh perspective on life and how I'm living mine. It's not a new perspective as other tragic events have caused me to press "pause" and take a deep breath and chill a little. But though there are 33 (yea, I'll even count the shooter's life as wasted) wasted lives, but if their deaths provide me a chance to really appreciate my life, even the chance to walk home at night and take in the fresh Spring air, then I guess their lives aren't a total waste after all.

I hope the same goes for others. Try and pry SOMETHING positive outta this horrible ordeal.

Yea, yea. I know I mentioned that I wouldn't post anymore for a while at least but I got this Al Pacino/Godfather coarse voice in my head...."and they keep PUULLL'N me back in!"

Ah, forget the beer. I'm just gonna get some much needed rest and go for a early morn'n hike.

Great point, especially about appreciating life.
