Does an employer have to appear at the Immigration Office to cancel an employee's E-2 visa or can he do it over the phone? Furthermore, is there a number I can call to find if my emplyer has cancelled my visa? Thanks in advance for your help!

Your employer has to do it in person.

You'd be better off going into immigraion personally to find that info out. I wouldn't trust them to do it over the phone.
