I had my E2 extended for 1 year. one of the conditions was that I have to get permission to leave.
1) Am I being watched?
2) An extension is just that, the E2 is multiple entry exit visa but that might not not be the case for an extension. Extensions are usually made for one period.
So whats up with this? |

A condition set by immi or by your boss? If it's immi, how will they know if you have permission? If it's by your boss and in your contract, you better do it. No biggie, just tell them you're going wherever for a while, show them your ticket, and be on your way.

I had to get a multiple entry stamp added to my extended visa this year as well. First time. That may be what they're talking about.
If you want to travel, you need the "M" stamp for permission to return, not to leave. |

If you are an American your initial visa was a multiple re-entry visa.
Your EXTENSION does NOT have re-entry privilages. You must apply for a re-entry permit if you wish to leave and RETURN. |

This isn't quite right, it depends on where you get your visa processed. Many Americans do have a multiple entry visa, but others have a single entry visa. This happened to some people I know who came here in August of last year. They had to apply for a mutli-entry stamp before going out of the country during their winter vacation. Be sure to look for the "M" or the "S" stamp on your visa.
People in some public schools have told me their school said they could NOT go out of the country for vacation, or not until they had lived here 6 months, or not to certain countries. It is total BS. Immigration doesn't care how long you are gone on vacation. As long as you are employed and your school doesn't fire you and cancel your visa, you can go out of the country anywhere during your vacation.
OP: I don't know about the rules for an extension, but it sounds like you will still be on an E-2 visa and the same rules apply. If you've signed some contract with your boss about not leaving the country, then that's different, but doesn't have to do with immigration (until you get fired). |

My last uni, it was standard procedure for ANYONE (Korean or foreign) to give your travel itinerary to admin if you were leaving the country. It was policy. Course, my boss was scumfaced jerkoff and forbade us to even leave the CITY (yes, forbade). This was for the entire 2 month summer vacation. We all gave him the finger and left anyway. He had no power to keep us in town. I hear he's still trying this power trip with the new teachers and the new teachers after them. |
