Well that's it, I am NOT letting a lone Korean cop into my house!
Just curious, didn't any of the victims smell alcohol on this man's breath? |

Since you obviously can't read Korean maybe you should keep quiet about what and what isn't in the media?
See what a little research can do? |

Woo had an argument with his live-in girlfriend on the afternoon of April 26, 1982. Enraged, he left the house and went to the police armory, where he began consuming large amounts of whiskey. After becoming heavily drunk, he raided the police armory of its weapons and built a personal arsenal. Woo then stole a single high-powered rifle and some grenades and left the armory around dinner time. Walking from house to house, he abused his position as a police officer to make people feel safe and gain entry into their homes. Then he shot the victims, or killed the entire family with a grenade. He continued this pattern for a full eight hours. |
How does a clown Korean police officer run around with a rifle for 8 hours killing people? Nobody noticed?
Possible Answer:
The local K-police were called and refused to leave the station because they were deep into a game of paduk while scarfing down on soon-dae and fried chicken.
Some cops finally decided to check it out, but Woo told them that they were out of their jurisdiction, so they should pizz off. |

Your kidding? Since when was smelling alcohol on someone been a big deal in Korea? Its not like was performing a surgery.
He was a cop, and I believe it happened late at night.
As for guns I am so glad Koreans dont have access to them. With their temperament, the stresses in their lives, and other factors, if gun were made available like they are in America, Seoul would go back to being a village overnight. |

I'm quite surprised no one has brought up this one.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Arthur_massacre
Martin Bryant killed 35 with a semi-automatic rifle. I'm wondering if the usual suspects will now find links between being Australian and extreme firearms violence.
Edit, this one slipped my mind too.

The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, also known as the Amritsar Massacre, was named after the Jallianwala Bagh (Garden) in the northern Indian city of Amritsar, where, on April 13, 1919, British Indian Army soldiers under the command of Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer opened fire on an unarmed gathering of men, women and children. The firing lasted about 10 minutes and 1600 rounds were fired. Official sources place the casualties at 379. According to private sources, the number was over 1000, with more than 2000 wounded,[1] and Civil Surgeon Dr Smith indicated that they were over 1800.[2] |
One of those golden moments of benign and benevolent British colonialism*. Although performed under the auspices of authority, if firing on unarmed civilians ain't murder, then I am the Queen of England.
*That's sarcasm for the uninitiated. |

The Japanese reputedly killed over 7,500 in Tapgol Park, Seoul, on March 1st, 1919: From Wikipedia:
"Despite the nationalists' concerns, massive crowds assembled in the Pagoda Park to hear a student, Chung Jae-yong, read the declaration publicly. Afterwards, the gathering formed into a procession, which the Japanese police attempted to suppress. According to reports issued by the Korean Yon-Hap news agency, the crowd was fired upon by the officers and "more than 7,500 demonstrators were killed and about 16,000 wounded..."
Not quite the same as a deranged lone gunman, but horrific none the less. |

a Korean in Korea?
gets me wondering if one of these anti-American protestors might go over the edge and go on a xenophobic killing rampage, killing as many meegook-looking waygook as possible, with mandatory korean military training and a generation of computer shoot-em-up games behind him,... it's only a matter of time
or so it seems
but don't worry: car accidents have to be hundred times more likely way to die in this country for a waygook
are there any stats on waygook deaths in korea? |

Insert the words "individual members of" in there somewhere and I'll drink to that.
The only issue I have with Korea and Koreans concerning this matter (and it is one with only a tangential relationship) is that they should do some serious soul searching over the beastly manner in which some Americans were treated in 2002 regarding the school girl deaths. Especially President Roh as his party indulged in some dog-whistling over this matter in order to get themselves elected. |

I actually live in Paju county, where the 2 tank deaths occurred, & have never encountered any anti Western sentiments which lasted 6 months from June 2002.
"In 2002, when two U.S soldiers accidentally ran over two schoolgirls with a tank north of Seoul, anti-American sentiment was widespread in Korea. Some restaurants even hung signboards reading "No Americans" rather than "No Soldiers Allowed." For weeks, thousands of Koreans staged protests against American soldiers, while some Korean media even suggested that the girl's deaths could have been deliberate."

I've cut & pasted a previous response from another thread, which I think is equally relevant here:

An important, generalized, cultural consideration:
Americans (& most 'Western' societies), are taught to value independent decision making, free thinking, autonomy & individualism. If someone succeeds (or fails), it's entirely due to their own efforts (or lack thereof.)
On the other hand, Eastern Cultures (such as Korea, China, & Japan), are taught to value group consensus, hierarchy, & family relationships.
Although there are always exceptions to these rules. I'm sure there are many Koreans who do NOT consult with family before making important decisions, just as there are Americans / Westerners who value familial input into decisions. The lines are becoming increasingly blurred due to globalization.
The conclusion from this in relation to the Virginia Tech shooting is that generally, Americans will hold the individual responsible for their own actions, NOT Korean society; & that Koreans will hold American society responsible for transgressions by individual Americans, on their turf. I actually live in Paju county, where the 2 Korean schoolgirls were accidently killed by the US tank several years ago. I've never encountered any hostility. |
