Bush finds 'strength' in Holocaust survivor's Virginia campus heroics

A Holocaust survivor who died while saving his students in Monday's shootings at a Virginia university is a true example of courage, U.S. President George W. Bush says.

Bush paid tribute to Liviu Librescu on Wednesday morning, hours before the engineering professor's afternoon funeral in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Holocaust survivor Liviu Librescu, who died in the Virginia Tech massacre, will be buried in Israel.
(Librescu family/Associated Press) Students said Librescu, 76, leaned against the door of his Virginia Tech classroom, blocking the path of the gunman who had opened fire on campus and was carrying out a rampage that would result in the deaths of 32 people as well as himself.

Librescu's actions Monday morning gave his students enough time to climb out the window of his second-storey classroom. The gunman eventually got through the door and killed Librescu, but not before his students escaped.

"This Holocaust survivor gave his own life so others could live," Bush said, speaking at a Holocaust remembrance event at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in

[May he rest in peace... El MaleRahamim, May God show his compassion and mercy....]

that coward piece of sh** douchebag has no place speaking about the bravery or heroism of anyone. of course, expect the dunce-in-chief to go to tragic events not caused by him, and spout platitudes after platitudes about inspiration and courage. it's all such bullsh**. talking doesn't make you compasionate- stopping the senseless deaths and maimings of young men and women would be a step in the right direction.

I'm glad the reign of terror is almost over. I want a president i am not completely ashamed of.

Yes, my initial impression is this Israeli Professor died a genuine hero & is well deserving of our prayers, love & respect.

This being said, Bush is among the worst kind of political opportunists ... *barf* ...

Come on, I know you hate Bush(no argument there), but how can you find fault in him honouring this true hero? Would you rather he ignore the sacrifice of this Holocaust survivor? The content of the message, not the past discretions of the messenger, should be noted here. People who hate Bush seem to hate him no matter what he does, even if it's something positive.

I agree. It is almost an insult against an honourable man who survived the shoah, the holocaust and lived to save the lives of many students.
The Talmud says if you save one life it is like saving the whole world...
God bless you, teacher, I am sorry you had to lose your life.
