I have been offered a job at both of these two schools and I was hoping someone could give me a little inside info on them. I just wanted to make sure there aren't any horror stories about either. Let me know if you have any advice. Thanks, Hailey
St Louis Institute in Manchon-dong
Winschool in Beomeo-dong
Also considering maybe
Ewha in Siji-dong
Yale institute in G-something-dong
THANKS!!! |

St. Louis - lots of complaints about management, curriculum, scheduling. Avoid.
Yale Jisan - piss poor vacation allowance, 6-day work week, tedious hidden 'extra duties' such as paper pushing and button pressing, illegal apartment tax, edu-crazed families send their kids there and complain about nonsense issues.
Ewha School - heard lots of terrible complaints in the past but i don't know anyone there now.
Win School - don't know.
Best to talk with teachers working at these places right now. Be careful with Yale, though, because they will refer you to only 'certain' teachers they know will speak favorably. |

Win School *they will have no problem terminating your job on the spot, for a bogus reason. Do you really want to be behind 8 weeks on pay?
Yale Jisan, and its other campuses - piss poor vacation allowance (more or less), 6-day work week (for most newbies), tedious hidden 'extra duties' such as paper pushing and button pressing (yes, yes, yes, yes and taking things home with you to do also), illegal apartment tax (well, definitely taxed), edu-crazed families send their kids there and complain about nonsense issues (be prepared to take on an extra work-load here).
Best to talk with teachers working at these places right now (although they may be a little reluctant to tell you, hanging on until severance pay, there a lot of unhappy teachers). Be careful with Yale, though, because they will refer you to only 'certain' teachers they know will speak favorably (yes). Yale is riding on its past! |

All these schools sound familiar to me ... these wouldn't be in daegu by any chance, would they? If they are in daegu, and your looking for a job around this area ... i know the perfect one ... It's right by yale school ... a newly constructed 70 pyong academy one building to the side ... the director is great ... you definitely wouldn't get screwed by her ... a good person, doesn't have a big ego like other big hagwons ... Haileyerskine or anyone else interested PM me and i will give you the details and set up an interview with her ... the academy is still under construction but will open in May ...
- you won't have to work 6 days a week like YALE
- you won't get fired on the spot like WINSCHOOL (unless your nuts) |

I am looking to be teaching in Daegu the end of May. I was excited by now I'm starting to get scared, it sounds like every school I have chosen is a bad choice. If anyone knows of anything better that would be great. Thanks Hailey |
