Hey I'm looking to put a computer together, well pick the components and have someone put it together for me. Where is a good place to do this? I know Johnny computer in Itaweon will do it but i've heard it's a bit expensive there and he sent me an estimate a month ago and the stats for price seemed a bit on the low side. I've also checked out http://popsdiy.pops4u.co.kr/Step.phtml but the website isn't working quite right. Any other recommendations? Maybe just wondering through Yongsan and finding someone?

If you go to Yongsan there are a few places to check for a custom built system.
The I'Park mall above the station is NOT always (hell, not even usually) the best deal in town.
Last weekend the best deals were at the Son In Plaza.
Walk around and look at the offers. The prices are usually listed in man won so a system priced at 60 would be 60 man won or 600,000 won.
Pentium D (dual core) systems were selling for about 40 man won.
Core duo systems were selling from 60-90 man won - price depending on CPU, RAM, HDD and video card.
Single core (Intel Prescott CPU) systems could be had for as little as 28 man won. |

Find a dealer with generally low prices on Danawa.com. Then order all your components through them. 1 order, 1 box, 1 shipping charge...cheapest price.

Still, you can save 100K on a system doing it through Danawa. These bigger, online presences charge a hefty premium (eg., 20+k more for e6420).

I had most of my components shipped over from the States as higher end stuff (in Korea) is rare, sometimes cannot be found, and if found is more expensive than buying it and shipping it here.

Write yourself a specification.
Example:
Cpu = 3.2GHZ (Intel AMD)
Mem= 4GB
HD= 500GB SATA
Video= (I don't even know what a good spec for video is these days)
PS= 1000w
M/B = FSB 1333MHZ KB + Mouse USB Firewire
Media= DVD R/W +/- CD Floppy Tape etc.
Then shop some sites to get an estimate for yourself.
Then go to local store and get your best price.

I agree with the above, but I like to add a bit more detail. Specify brands and model numbers whenever possible, so if you go to a few places you can do an apples to apples comparison. A lot of vendors will sub inferior components if you don't specify what you want exactly in order to undercut their competitors.
