I'm already dreaming about summer vacation. I get 9 days at the end of July. I'm looking for suggestions. I want to do something cultural, not just sitting on a beach and drinking (not that there's anything wrong with that ) I've been to Cambodia, Thailand, and Beijing. I don't really have any interest in Japan. I'm leaning towards Vietnam or Xian. BTW, I'm a single girl, probably traveling alone, so safety is a concern.
Well, where should I go?

Well, Japan would definitely be one of the safest places to travel alone in my opinon and there is lots to see and do.

Singapore comes to mind as a safe place you might want to look into.

All places mentioned seem nice (Malaysia, Philipines, Xian, Beijing, Japan, Myanmar, Vietnam), but all are dreadfully hot in the summer. Summer is actually the coolest and dryest time to go to Bali. I would suggest Bali, Java, or a Thai island. The other places mentnioned are better in Winter (P.I., Myanmar, Vietnam) or Spring/Fall (Japan/China).
Incidentally, Bali does have culture, go to Ubud).
