I've done some searching, but not found specifically Korean law related to the provision by an employer of health insurance for F-type visa holders...annual contract workers.
I know it's a mandatory provision for E2's.
Any answers or links would be appreciated. |

It is required for ALL full time salaried or contract workers in Korea.

Thanks for the reply.
I've checked there, and the Korean government pdf file attached dealing with coverage for Korean nationals, which a "resident foreigner" is subject to... it seems an older document and not well translated, but mentions that any company with more than 5 employees has to provide coverage...
Thanks again, I'll go to EFL law for the specifics related to my circumstances. |

Actually, as of Jan 2006 ALL foreign employees are REQUIRED to be covered without regard to visa status if they are employed in Korea.
From 1, 2006, the National Health Insurance will be compulsory for all foreign workers in Korea. Please allow me to quote the National Health Insurance Co,
"☞ Because of the amendment of the National Health Insurance Act on Jul. 13, 2005, without relation to the type of Status of Stay, all foreign workers and overseas Koreans who work for an workplace in Korea shall automatically be the employee insured since 1 January, 2006. "
