|
|
Gidday. I'm going to be in Busan for the first time this year.
I want to get to know the place, and train for triathlons.
I'm talking about working up to running 10 kms (starting at once a week)
and cycling 40kms (about once a week, too, initially).
Does anyone know if there are any groups - or individuals who want company - in distance/ road cycling, and running?
I'm happy to travel around to meet up with anyone else, if they can recommend good roads/ trails to follow ie. places that are safe (from cars), and picturesque. |

I'm pretty sure there's a hash house harriers group in Busan, so there must be some runners around. You can find the website through google. Don't know about cycling. |

Former tri here. IIRC, isn't there a cycling/jogging path around Songdo Beach? I don't know how far that goes, though. There's also a path along the Oncheon River.
Did you guys bring/ship your bikes over or purchase ones here? I miss my tri bike. |

I used to train like that in the VI but I have become fat here in Korea.
I know a few people are who hike the mountains very often, three times a week. We are in a valley, so walk left or right and you will be in the mountains in a matter of minutes.
Try contacting some people on Pusanweb. |

Hmmm problem with Tri Geeks .... they have to DRAFT ma Big Arse....
So funny I was like at Halla Cycle and met this "Iron MAn" Race guy Korean Guy... Says Yaeh I'll go along the beach with you it is on my way home I live on the West side of Jeju... I'm like looking at this K-Guy he has a sweeet bike and Big legs - not fat so I think errr ok lets go... He was strong right - but let's be Frank here I am One Bad Pig... I had to slow up on any hill ... right so I come up to a hill we are going 25-30 he has to slow down to 21 on the Hill ... Im thinkin welll he is no whossee I guess he beat me on a run (as my run slow twitch fibers are all gone) but ha ha this guy would get dropped like a girl in any Cat 2 ride...
Mmmm so my point is he had to draft me and ... then later everybody at Halla Cycle Shop was always like Ahhhh Megook so strong he hurt Kim so bad .... (Kim was sooo cool to them cuz he did good in Iron Mans as a TriGeeker)
So umm this has nothing to do with the OP post basicllyu it is me just telling the truth about how much Stronger and more Poweful I am on da bike than Most any Tri-Geek.... I guss If I should start to run to so I can win a jeju Tri Geek race if I ever go back to Jeju but running is soooooo slow and sooooo boring unless you have a beautiful forest trail.... So umm back to the OP... No idea on bike clubs in Busan or routes but they had a Bike club in Jeju that I sometines did MTB road with but ahhh .... But if you post here and have some great route club in Busan I will then have to consider mobing there if There is A Womens' College I can work at with 4 months of vacation and eager and willing Female students who will come over in grops of tw0- or three not just one- and make me crazy with hoootttt Kim Chee and fresh Kim-baps and Kim Chee Chega and ahhh thise leaf sandwich things ahhh ? |

Wow dude, teach me to be like you.
All this time I've been wasting my life running and swimming.
Please tell me you rock a full kit including matching tires and bar tape. |

Hey Dudes,
I'm living in Seoul (Kangnam) and am looking for roadies to go out and put in some miles with. I'm on a MTB with slicks(for now), but I can hang.
Carrotpatch, roadies are powerfully attracted to a full kit. For roadies, there's just no use in trying to avoid the mystical attraction of, for example, a full Mapei kit, with bib shorts and a matching mussette, of course. Museeuw is gone, but his dreams live on every time a fat guy slides his hairy azz and big gut into some Mercatone-Uno Giordanas, which (always) match his gloves, helmet, Pantani-edition Bianchi, etc. This makes roadies easy targets for getting kitted up, but the lycra seems to have a protective affect, inhibiting wisecracks like Jan Ulrich consumes Bratwurst.
Anyway, if anyone's in Seoul, let me know if you want to get a road ride on. |

There is a really good running path down at Haeundae beach. I am not sure how far it goes, as I walked it from Haeundae over to Gwangali the other day. I saw lots of people running out there in the evening that I went. Some of them looked like they might have been part of a running club but I couldn't be sure.
I am also a runner but have only been running since August. I am not very fast, usually run about a 10 minute mile. I usually do anywhere from 5 to 10km 4 or 5 days a week, but lately have been using the treadmill since winter started in Canada around Christmas. That being said, I would be up for getting a group together to run a couple days a week if anyone is interested. It would be nice to have people of different levels though, as I know I can't keep up with the faster runners. Just a thought... |

To be honest I know but sometimes I loose Lion King Chippo C00l Guy Style points and don't match it is bad... man buy your bike clothes catalog order before you come to Korea cuz it is a mega rip and you will pay full price here.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Capaneus/DSC07286.jpg
My blue GIRO helmet was stolen long ago so I do not quite match off aqua... mmm I need to get a new helm in da states... this one has too many crashes in it too... But otherwise my fashion is kinda like a Giant Overgrown Blue Toad... But I need some kinda Italy Race bottles or maybe I can get a blue pace car to follow behind with loud speakers quoting me, Tellin Everyone:
GET OFF MY ROAD YOU OWE ME OIL MONEY FROM DA MARINES IN DA PERSIAN GULF YOU UNGRATEFUL _-_-_-_ !"
and with towels to help me Greg Lemond Taco Sick Style .... Ha Ha Greg was soooo much more cool than Lance
I am the strongest I am the one. There was no greater pride or power that made his sally of insane drafts and passes in Jeju. Well there was one who hurt me but he left and was a pro too boot too. Man did I r00lz Jeju so Bad I was almost always (with the above exception) the phatest goon on da road. I bet there is no way you ride as bad as me- if you do Christ save ya and God forbid you don't wear a helmet.
Mmmm ok here is a picture of Bussan Bike tri lady who runs a pet store there she rode Jeju, http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/6561/hg8yu9kf.jpg
and of course wanted to ride with me the Glory of the Isle... I let them buy me lunch later. They must feed the smoking ruin maker the Great Smaug he burns all foods soon dead. Mmm we went to love land in Jeju together- it was not my idea by the way- but I guess it could be said to be a cultural study... crazy Corean place too plastic like a waasteland
Seriously though I am highly considering doing the Bussan EPIK. But hey if there are others here who insist on a better ride spot let me know... I may even go crazy and buy a second MTB for there if there are wayyyyy sweet trails around... but the trails in Jeju were a disappointment ok I am spoiled on soft humus single track forest.... (yes contact the Bussan office now and inform them not to hire a overgrown bombastic Stoat before it is too late - it will do no good as EPIK seems to hire any English spewer with a 4 year and a pulse....)
Here is me in my Current environs whackin out cuz these cars pass me... but i kept havin problems with hands cuz I had to film and ride.... I'm gonna tape it to my helmet one of these days and go cArazzzyyy passing and chain draftin 4 da camera...
