I've broken down and decided to purchase a 360, since the stupid thing is region coded is there a place any one can reccomend to purchase one.

Also is there an place that sells english lanaguage games. I'd prefer not to try to decipher hangul while murdering aliens and so forth. (although i suppose it would be good practice)

This would be in Seoul by the way.

You can buy any where. All the prices are pretty much the same. And most of the games are in English (game menus and audio) with Korean manuals. You can see the back of the game box to be sure though.

It's not actually region coded, but *some* of the games are. However, all the 360 from Japan have subtitle options.

Can't wait for the Wii to come here Rolling Eyes

I haven't bought a 360 game that had any Korean language in it yet (I have at least 10 games); except for world cup 2006, but that only has the Korean players' names in hangeul. Everything else is English. Hook up, dude. There's a dozen or so fellow waegookin shootin' it up on XBOX live from the ROK. Can never have too many English-speaking Seoulites online. Get some terrible lag playing dudes from the states though.

CheeseSandwich..don't buy your 360 at a Department store. Go to the Yongsan Electronics market...in one of the bulidings, in the basement, is a bunch of xbox retailers. They may be able to mod your 360.

If you haven't heard of mod chips, you must learn now!

If they can mod the 360 like the original xbox, then it will play any region game/DVD. You'll also get a user friendly media center and the ability to play live games with system link. They'll also throw in 40 or so games on the huge hard drive you'll get.

Does anyone know if the guys at Yongsan Electronics market are modding the 360 yet? If so I'm on the next train! Those guys modded my original xbox and it's great. 160 gig of memory. The media centre feature alone is worth the cost, just ftp your downloaded tv shows to the xbox and goodbye forever to Korean TV! I haven't watched a rubber hammer hit a head in 2 years. Also thousands of radio streams.

With a mod you can also download and burn your own xbox/xbox360 games or movies from any torrent site, but that would be.....illegal.

Tell me what happens.

Just wondering, are any of you playing live on Xlink Kai? It's the same as xbox live, only FREE. Granted, most of the community is Halo 2.

The guys in Yongsan will mod your firmware. It doesn't make anything region free. You can play 'backup' games on your modded console though.

I've taken a few trips to Japan to buy some games and other accessories...the prices are much better there and a lot of rare RPG's can be had there...but then again I am not a big fan of the Xbox....but that new Blue Dragon RPG thats coming out might make me have to reconsider.

I currently have an xbox sitting in my office collecting dust cuz it does nothing but shut down from over heating, and I even had the intercooler on the back of it. I know of three other of my friends who have had the same problem. I would NOT buy a 360.

The modded firmware only allows you to play backups. It doesn't have any of the fancy features that the original Xbox has. If you get your 360 firmware modded, tell them to backup your original firmware. You'll need it if you need to replace your DVD drive, or if you want to restore the firmware.

Ruffie ... I've bought electronics at Yongsan but I usually buy in that big building (Space 9 I think). Where is the Yongsan Electronics Market that you're referring to? I think I saw a building behind the Space 9 but I've never ventured in there. Are things cheaper in there? Thanks.

From the Yongsan station-level exits of the I'Park mall (3rd floor maybe), walk away from the main stair/escalators towards the back. You'll be forced to hang a right. There's a long tunnelish pedestrian overpass that will lead you to the old Yongsan station. The buildings, alleys, underground areas and other stuff around there are where you'll some of the better bargains.

Another option is to go to Sinyongsan station (line #4) and take the pedestrian tunnel towards the old market.

The directions are better than anything I could give!
If it's the xbox stuff in particular that you're looking for, you'll find it in the first building across from the parking lot. Traverse the skywalk from the modern train station building to the building full of cameras and computer stuff. Go downstairs and leave that building, and you'll see the parking lot.Walk over there to the little hill on the right side of that building where guys are selling dvd's. You should be ok from there. Always keep the skywalk to your back, if you get confused.
