Hi. I just got a whopper of an electricity for this month 350K+ for Jan-Feb. We were using two electric heater fans. We "thought" they would be more economical than gas...but I guess not.

We recently got a 41-pyung apartment, and we haven't seen what its going to cost for air-con this summer! Were planning on buying a multi 15+6 pyung a/c set and I'm really worried after this heating fiasco.

Anyone have any ideas or comments?

How many watts are the heaters?

If they are around 3000W or more you are talking about using up 6 units or more every hour.

How much is one unit and what it the increments when you go over a certain amount?

Thanks for the reply. One is 1300W and the other is 900W. The company says we used 900 units of electricity that month. We have a bed heater 150W we use at night, too. Does that sound about right? We used the electric heaters all day, pretty much.

I'm not sure of the unit price but I heard it goes up a lot when you use "too much".

If it's a standard electric bill the charging details will be on the back.

The fixed fee goes up after 50kwh and increments of 50 maybe. I remember one winter I used a 2000watt electric fan heater whenever I was home, which wasn't much. The fee then for units over 300 was about 350won, so 6 an hour, over 2000won an hour the more you use, it soon adds up!!

Our last 'temporary' apartment let a lot of cold air into the house last winter. This meant that the old, uneconomical gas boiler was on higher and for longer. Gas bills were in the 200's, but electricity bills were about 15,000 per month.

In our new apartment, the windows are airtight (so no heat loss).
Gas is about 60,000 and electricity is about 15,000.

The biggest enemy is how much warm air you loose, by letting cold air in.
I would suggest sealing any draughts and wearing more clothes for the cold months.

A couple sleeping nude can be very warm and romantic.

I just send my bills back to the company if they are too high.
