I was hoping for something a little more on the myspace side of things - I would totally add him as a friend. Oh well.

While I was there I read that letter that he sent to Bush (this one pdf). He makes some interesting points, but it degenerates into religious babble near the end.

On top of that it's clear that the office of the president needs some assistance with proof-reading and formatting for English. I've sent him an email letting him know that Bush has no patience for poor formatting and that this is part of the reason for the current animosity between Iran and the US. I've suggested that they might like to hire me to teach English and proofread for the president's office, so hopefully I'll hear back on that soon. I wonder if they pay well. I've also asked if he has myspace, so if he does I'll post the address here.

Under those reptilian eyes he's a decent fella. He did free the 15 hostages after all. Britain should give him a big thankyou and concentrate on forming diplomatic relations rather than arrogantly posturing with the whole "we showed them, we gave no concessions" backchat.

Here's the email I sent under 'Job Request', priority 'Normal' (don't want to appear too pushy):

gang ah jee wrote:
Dear Mr President,

I am writing with regard to your insightful and compassionate letter to the President of the United States of America, George W. Bush.

Your letter communicated many honest truths, and is surely the work of a true teacher, statesman, and man in the service of the Almighty. It is my sincerest wish that President Bush gave your heartfelt communique his closest attention, and that he ruminated and pondered its message of peace and hope with the gravity that such profundity deserves. However, I fear that this did not happen.

President Bush, as I am sure you know, is an impulsive man, a man of action. Less well known about this world leader, however, is that, despite outward appearances to the contrary, he has a passion for correct spelling, grammar, and formatting on the printed page. It is with upmost respect and deference for your office and person, and with full humility under the gaze of the Almighty, that I believe that, though the content of your letter was beyond reproach, some technical aspects of language use, particularly with respect to paragraphing, may not have been as perfect as they could have been. For a pedant such as Bush, such trivial errors may have, alas, caused him to discard your letter without fully apprehending its sage wisdom That relations between the United States and Iran continue to deteriorate serves, I am afraid to say, as evidence of this woeful thesis.

I humbly consider myself to be a friend to the noble and faithful Iranian people, and it is my greatest wish that enduring peace and co-operation shall come to reign between Iran and all the nations of the world under the Almighty. It is in this spirit that I most humbly offer my services as a trained and experienced English instructor and proofreader to the august office of the President of Iran. I humbly express my wish that this offer be duly considered, as is the will of the Almighty.

May faith in God and the will of the Almighty prevail over all things.

Yours sincerely,

(gang ah jee's real name)

P.S. Do you have a myspace page? I would like to add you as a friend.

I'm still waiting on the reply. What time is it in Iran now? Or do you think he's off for Easter?

edit: By the beard of the prophet, I missed a full stop in the third paragraph! Now my letter will be mocked by his staff and circulated in Farsi 'lamest job application' email forwards, my dreams of working at the highest echelons of Iranian government destroyed forever.

Confused

This is my point exactly. We may be headed towards unclear war if this problem is not sorted out.

I've just checked, and it's around noon in Iran right now. Hopefully Mahmood will check his emails when he gets back from lunch.

(And yes, I checked that Good Friday isn't a holiday in Iran. And Death to America Day isn't until November.)

Naw, he's too busy meeting with the Revolutionary Guards who are supplying the new explosive projectiles to the Shiite terrorists in Iraq. Either that or sleeping with one of his for-hire slu-ts while pretending to be a keeper of the Islamic faith.

Or maybe he's scratching his ragged beard and dancing to the organ of the ayatollah!

Whatever he's doing he still hasn't replied to my email. Maybe I should resend it with urgent priority.

Don't say we've never agreed on anything Junior.

You're absolutely correct.

No, no, you're going at this all wrong. Write another letter requesting a gift catalog first. He's been giving out lots of "gifts" lately.

jinju:

His hate mail should be rather pointed, as on a single subject, as in making fun of flashy suits or the way he dresses in pants that don't quite cover his ankles.

Better yet, criticize Iranian attitudes toward women since he's already done the same with the femaile British sailor.

Ok, I finally got a reply from Dr Ahmedinejad, but it's a bit disappointing to be honest.

Dear [gang ah jee's real name]

We beg to inform you that your E-mail dated 2007/04/07 was received. We
wish health and success for you from the Almighty .

with regard
The Islamic Republic of IRAN presidential site

He completely forgot to let me know about the job! How do you think I should reply? I've been offered work elsewhere, and I need to let them know, but I'd still really like to work in Tehran. Any advice would be appreciated.

gang ah jee checked in:

"We beg to inform..."

How pretentious is that? More false humility from the Islamofascists.

Surely there must be an opening for a personal tailor.
