33 days in and I've got a rash on my torso. Fantabulous! Anyone know of an English-speaking dermatologist in Daegu? Either that or a recommendation for clinic or hospital? The kidlets at work are starting to imitate me by scratching their backs.

There is a Dermatology clinic at Kyungpook National University Hospital that I went to before. Their english wasn't the best, but it wasn't bad either. It's downtown, next to the park with the big bell in it by Migliore. You have to walk up the street a bit away from the main road with the park on you right, and cross the street. Big red-brick, old looking building. Inside is kind of a maze, but you can ask anybody who looks like a doctor or nurse for help, they'll show you. If you find the front desk reception/ admission area, they'll help you find Dermatology.
There also might be one in your neighbourhood. I found the one in my neighbourhood is better than the one at Kyungpook; the doctor speaks better english and was more helpful. You could try going to any medical clinic or hospital nearby and asking them where there is a dermatology specialist. I don't know how to spell it properly, but the word for Dermatology clinic sounds like "pee-boo-kwa". You could say "pee-boo-kwa oh-dee-say-oh?". Sorry my Korean is horrible but at least it'll get the point across.
Hope that helps a bit... |

Just go to the pharmacy and show them. They'll probably give you soem cortizone cream, which should clear it up.
I had a similar probelm when i arrrived here. The doc gave my claritin and allegra, or maybe it was zyrtec. (Not the "D" variety as that is for decongestant). Eitehr way, you should be takin two different kinds, one in the monring and one at night. That should clear you up for sure. Most doctros in korea speak at least some English, as most of the medical text books are in English. Their speaking and listening isn't htat good sometiems, but try writing what you need.
Also, you should be sure to use a fabric softenener on your clotehs. I use Pijon Yellow, which hasn't caused me any problems for my sensitive skin. Also, try using GCAME Natural laundry Power Soap. Its availale at Emart, Costco, etc. Its in a pale green package.
Goodluck! |

Dongsan Medical Center has an english-speaking dermatologist. They also have an international clinic with translators who accompany you around the hospital, in case there are some language barrier issues.

Don't you need a referral from another doctor to get an appointment at the international clinic? I thought I saw that in the Chingusai newsletter and didn't understand why...
Also, how do you get there? I'd like to know myself...
Thanks! |
